Call for Proposals – MOCA NOMAD, a mobile art project

MOCA Tucson is launching a mobile art project to take place at different locations throughout Tucson and Pima County in July and August 2018. While MOCA Tucson undergoes renovations to its gallery spaces, MOCA will be on the move, presenting community-based projects at partnering institutions across Southern Arizona. Projects will take place within and/or utilize a standard 17’ moving truck. Priority will be given to interactive, performance, video, sound, and site-specific works by artists living and working in Southern Arizona. ALL PROPOSALS MUST INCORPORATE THE USE OF THE UHAUL AND HOW THEIR WORK WILL BENEFIT THE PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN ARIZONA.

Four artists will be chosen for two-week projects. Presentations will take place on evenings throughout the summer with the following community partners.

ARTIST 1 –FRIDAYS July 6 and 13 (location: Triangle L Ranch in Oracle, AZ)
ARTIST 2 –MONDAYS August 6 and August 13 (location: The Children’s Museum)
ARTIST 3 –FRIDAYS August 17 and August 24 (location: YWCA)

Selected artists will be given a modest production budget of $500 to aid in the presentation of work, and will be assisted by MOCA curatorial, programming, and production staff.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
Artists working in all media and at all levels of their career are encouraged to apply. Applications will be judged based on the quality or work samples and statement of purpose. A panel of curators and artists will review applications and make selections.
