Free Third Thursday
May 16, 2024
5:00 - 9:00 PM
Join us for a free evening at MOCA with galleries open late, live music by KXCI Community Radio, food, and drinks! Don’t miss this lively time to gather with friends and family around art, music, and drinks; all ages are welcome!
This month, we’ll be joined by the Pima County Food Alliance (PCFA) and several artists from the Southern Arizona Clay Artists (SACA). PCFA will be leading an interactive community art project about nourishment, food, and place, and SACA artists will be hosting a pop-up clay sale with educational demonstrations!
Pima County Food Alliance (PCFA) is a diverse coalition of community members, farmers, market managers, agency staff, community organizers, university students and researchers, and others working across the local food system. PCFA works to address food system-related issues and needs through a combination of policy, advocacy, community building, education, and outreach.
Southern Arizona Clay Artists (SACA) is a non-profit organization serving as a cooperative forum and network for clay artists and enthusiasts. SACA offers workshops, events, discussion groups, shows, and sales for members. SACA members make a variety of ceramic art from functional pottery to whimsical sculptured figures to mosaics and enjoy sharing their work with the community.

About the Exhibitions
On view in the Great Hall is Fay Ray: PORTALS, the first solo museum exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Fay Ray featuring large-scale hanging sculptures and seven new site-specific commissions. On view in the East Wing Galleries is Between gravity and ground an exhibition featuring glass and textile based works by artists Sara Hubbs and Sarah Zapata that are informed by personal and familial histories; and SIN AGUA a video and sound installation by artist Sofía Córdova that layers research and personal narrative catalyzed by the artist’s inquiry into water—its presence, absence, and significance—in Arizona’s arid landscape and in Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Third Thursdays are presented in collaboration with KXCI Community Radio.
