x2 Dance Collective co-director Sarah Elizabeth Stanley will lead a movement workshop centered around the company’s 2019 work titled fold, which investigates how fashion and garments shape identity and culture. Participants will be led through a warm-up and improvisation practice and will learn phrases of fold. Throughout the workshop, participants will build a structure for a final presentation of the day’s activities.
Participants in the workshop will explore two questions that shaped the creation of fold: How does fast fashion shape our interactions and culture? How do we express gender identity, sexuality, personality, and memory in our fashion choices?
All levels welcome! Workshop participants are encouraged to bring articles of clothing to work with as props.
Masks are required at this event.
