School of Drag (55+)
Sundays 12-2pm
This free 10-week program invites 55+ community members into the museum to explore identity, art, and performance. We will explore the history of performance art with a focus on gender performance and drag. Participants will also learn about creating a character, song/sound elements, costumes, make-up and more! Open to individuals of all backgrounds and abilities.
The program culminates in a performance showcase featuring 55+ and youth participants as well as local professional drag performers. You are not required to perform in the showcase. We can also accommodate those who prefer to not do a live performance and screen something previously recorded.
The program runs Sundays from 12-2pm at MOCA Tucson. Program dates are every Sunday from February 24th -April 28th with a showcase on May 4th. There are 15 spots available. Register today!
We ask that participants attend each week as we will build off of the previous week. If you need to miss a week please let us know. This is FREE program made possible through a grant from Aroha Philanthropies.
