Exhibition Closing Event: Screening and Reception

Join us for an evening celebrating the closing of were-:Nenetech Forms, featuring an outdoor screening of artist Chico MacMurtrie’s Border Crossers film in-progress. The film documents MacMurtrie’s inflatable “Border Crosser” sculptures, conceived by the artist as metaphors for the dream of reconnecting across borders. These robotic sculptures are the central characters in a documentary plot that illuminates communities and landscapes often obscured by the rhetoric of border politics. At once vulnerable and resilient, fragile and driven, alone and buoyed by community support, the “Border Crossers” encounter a variety of people, machines, and plant and animal life on their quest to robotically rise and arch over the U.S.–Mexico border from both sides.

The screening is followed by artists in conversation, with Chico MacMurtrie, rafa esparza, and Timo Fahler, and a closing reception on the plaza. Don’t miss out on a last chance to view were-:Nenetech Forms before it closes on March 13th!
