About the Choreographers
Ruben Dorame-Leon is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the School of Dance at the University of Arizona. Dorame-Leon also owns and operates a nonprofit dance studio in South Tucson. The studio “Drop” opened in 2011, offering affordable hip-hop, funk, and street style dance and culture classes and has won multiple international competitions in 2015 and 2017. In addition to dance classes, Drop studio also offers performances, media projects, and educational programs to our community with the hope to inspire, manifest, and elevate the future generations of dance artists and leaders.
Christian Paris Blue is a Black and Mexican queer choreographer, dancer, and educator based in Tucson, Arizona. A graduate of the University of Arizona School of Dance and current MFA candidate, his creative voice is expressive of his multiple identities, rooted in lived experiences and an ongoing curiosity of how to demonstrate intimacy, identity, vulnerability, and connection in performance. Sometimes loud, sometimes soft, but always human, Christian creates art through dance, movement, music, improvisation, and storytelling. He is particularly interested in how bodies communicate with, protect, and maintain connection with one another while in motion.
